About Jesse Johnston

Jesse Johnston is a proven leader, decorated combat veteran, and dedicated public servant committed to protecting the people of Power County with integrity, accountability, and strength.

At just 19 years old, Jesse began his service to this country as a U.S. Army paratrooper and sniper with the 82nd Airborne Division during the Iraq War. Over the course of his military career, he deployed on three combat tours to Iraq and one to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division, along with serving as a detachment sergeant in Long Range Surveillance. Through these experiences, he learned what it means to lead under extreme pressure, make split-second decisions, and be accountable for the lives of others. Those early lessons shaped the leader he is today and laid the foundation for a lifetime of service.

After Jesse was medically retired from service to this nation due to injuries sustained in combat, he continued serving on the front lines of his community as both a deputy sheriff and city police officer. He now serves as a state and nationally certified paramedic with Power County EMS, delivering critical care when seconds matter most. With more than two decades in uniform, his career has been defined by service, discipline, and a commitment to protecting others.

In addition to his public service, Jesse is also a successful small business owner in Southeast Idaho. He has built, owned, and operated three thriving businesses, gaining firsthand experience in leadership, organization, and operational management. He has successfully overseen multiple departments, managed teams of people, and ensured that resources are used efficiently and responsibly. He understands the importance of appropriating funds wisely, eliminating waste, and making decisions that balance effectiveness with fiscal responsibility. That same approach will guide how he leads the sheriff’s office.

Jesse brings a well-rounded and practical approach to the role of sheriff. His combined experience in law enforcement, emergency medical services, business ownership, and advanced firearms instruction allows him to approach challenges with both tactical expertise and grounded leadership. He is committed to strengthening his deputies through proper training, ensuring safe staffing levels, and modernizing systems while remaining accountable to taxpayers.

Jesse’s campaign is rooted in a simple principle: the office of sheriff belongs to the people. He believes in transparency, accountability, and restoring trust in local government. He stands firmly against the misuse of power, intimidation, and corruption, and believes the public deserves honest leadership that works for them, not against them.

Just as important, Jesse is committed to being a visible and accessible sheriff. His door will always be open to the people of this county. He believes leadership requires presence, not distance. He will be out in the community, listening to concerns, having real conversations, and working alongside the people he serves. By staying engaged and approachable, he aims to not only address the challenges facing Power County, but to be a working part of the community itself, building trust and strengthening the foundation of this county as one united community.

Jesse Johnston is running to bring integrity, professionalism, and strong leadership back to the Power County Sheriff’s Office. He is committed to upholding the Constitution, defending the rights of every citizen, and ensuring that Power County remains a safe and thriving place for families and future generations.

This campaign is about putting the people back in charge, restoring accountability, and moving the county forward.
